Cool Quiz

Current Mood:

I got the link from Pebbles' blog :-)... Go to www.liquidgeneration.com and click Quiz :-). There's a superhero quiz for boys too :-).

Too bad I didn't match up with Psylocke, my favorite Marvel heroine :-)...

Fabulous New Scent

Current Mood:

I bought a new fragrance from Victoria's Secret today. It's called Basic Instinct.

I bought both the perfume and the body wash. It smells REALLY good.

How good, you ask? Well, after we got home, Steve took a nap and I took a shower. I used the body wash and spritzed myself with a little of the perfume afterwards. I walked into the bedroom, and in about ten seconds Steve groggily opened his eyes and he gave me a wide, sleepy smile.

"You smell good," he muttered, then went back to sleep.

If it wakes a man up from his nap, then THAT'S a pretty darned good scent :-).

Ahhhhh...

Current Mood:

It feels SOOO good to have the luxury to go online solely for personal purposes again :-).

Man, I love Fridays :-).

I'm going to have to squeeze as much personal time as I can tomorrow though. On Sunday I'm working with Teresa to write the lessons for next week.

On the plus side, my assistant starts on Monday :-). I already have a list of things for her to do :-).

They're like me :-)!

Current Mood:

I found out that Teresa (the president of the company) and Rita (the VP for Human Resources) both prefer to sleep early and then just wake up at like, 4-5 am to work instead of staying up late and then going to bed in the middle of the night.

That's just like me :-)! It sure feels good that two women I admire very much in the company do the same thing I do when it comes to homework :-).

One down...

Current Mood:

One major project practically done... two more to go... and that potential client presentation is done too--it went all right :-).

I was telling Steve, "When all this is over and done and things finally slow down, you and I are going away somewhere." He suggested I use my spa gift certificate first :-). Good idea :-).

Whew

Current Mood:

It's going to be a busy next couple of weeks for me in terms of training development. This week it's English and Acculturation Training, next week is Management Training, we're also doing a presentation of sorts for another potential client...

Never a dull moment :-).

Short flamenco lesson

Current Mood:

Ever wondered what Flamenco looks like? Would you like to actually TRY a little flamenco? I found a site that'll give you a short Flamenco lesson (you'll need RealPlayer to play it) :-).

Let's start with a foot sequence :-):

El Baile Flamenco - click on the link that says "foot exercise" (or "ejercicio de pies" if the page loads in Spanish).

Got it? Now let's make things just a WEE bit more complicated by mixing the foot sequence you just learned with arm movements this time :-):

El Baile Flamenco - click on the link that says "dance" (or "Baile" if the page loads in Spanish).

I know--after I watched it I said to myself, "..uh...I'm going to need a LOT of practice to be that coordinated :-)."

Finally got some sleep :-)

Current Mood:

I finally got caught up on my sleep :-). In the last two days I only had about 5 hours of sleep total. Last night I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up at like, 5:30 am :-).

Steve, despite my protests, wouldn't let me out of bed last night. "You're staring out into space a lot, the idea of eating makes you nauseous...you have to get some sleep. What you're doing can wait until tomorrow."

It's amazing how much more easily and clearly you can think after you've slept :-). And I don't feel quite as paranoid either :-).

Well, THAT'S pretty neat :-)...

Current Mood:

I was watching the local TV news report when the Memphis' Fox 13 weather reporter came on and talked about today's weather, as usual. Then at the end of his report, he said, "And you can visit our weather blog at www.foxweather.blogspot.com."

I thought that was pretty neat :-). Keeping a blog is certainly becoming more and more popular :-).

Hitch

Current Mood:

Steve and I went to see Hitch yesterday. It's going to be a LOOONG next couple of weeks for me. It's crunch time for training because we're setting up for the client's launch in Manila on the 7th. Steve and I figured we better watch it this weekend or else we won't get a chance to see it.

If you have a chance to see Hitch, go and see it--it was great :-). Steve said that was one chick flick he didn't mind seeing at all :-). It was very funny :-). The casting was well done :-).

The blond leading lady in the film reminded me too much of Cameron Diaz, though. Maybe that's what the movie was going for.

Next on our list of things to see: Constantine. That looks like it's going to be a good film too :-).

Funny article

Current Mood:

I was reading the inflight magazine on my way back home from Omaha and I found a funny article about using movie lines for everyday events. One in particular is my favorite--I can just see myself doing it :-):

When you get caught telling a fib, wave your fingers in front of the other person's face and say, "These aren't the droids you're looking for :-)."

Birthday party!

Current Mood:

What a surprise! Tammy, Jairus and the girls came over and we all had a belated birthday celebration because I was out of town when I had my birthday. There was a cake and gifts and pizza and beer and everything :-)!

The first gifts I had opened were the ones from Judy. I have new socks! YAY :-D! I'm actually wearing one of the pairs right now, as a matter of fact :-).

There were also two other gifts from Judy. I opened the bigger one and the box said, "The Trail of Painted Ponies." I didn't know what painted ponies loooked like, and when I opened it my jaw dropped.

It was absolutely gorgeous. This one is called Medicine Pony. The feathers were real and the art was wonderfully detailed. I've always had a fascination for all things Native American and this literally took my breath away.

Judy ALSO got me a book on The Trail of Painted Ponies. It had pictures of all the figurines and sculptures and they were all so beautiful!

Then there was mom and dad's gift. I was so thrilled when I opened it: it's a gift certificate to the Germantown Day Spa! It's entitled "A Day of Caring." It includes an Algae or Mud Wrap, a Customized Facial, and a 1 hour massage! I'm going to save this up for a really stressful week at work (which means I could very well use this in the next two weeks :-)).

Then there was Tammy, Jairus and the girls' gift--A gift card at Payless :-D! And I was just there today too looking at their boot selection :-D. I predict this card is going to get used really soon :-).

Everything was so wonderful and I feel so humbled that everyone went through so much trouble for a birthday that was over two weeks ago.

Best Omaha memories

Current Mood:

Omaha was very busy for the entire ePERFORMAX team. We all suffered information overload, but I'm sure everyone would agree if I said that we would rather have too much information at this point than too little.

The ePMAX team didn't get to go out much during our stay in Omaha, but I do have a collection of best memories :-):
  • We went bowling with the client's Manila team. It was great to have fun like that, and the best part was being able to connect with them and achieve that comfort level that made both sides realize just how closely aligned our two companies are.
  • Amber and I joined a training class in Omaha. Our trainers were so much fun and so sweet. The thing that impressed me and Amber on the very first day was how much they enjoy what they do and the people they work with. That's always a good thing :-).
  • It was really good to see Amber, Louis, Adam and Nina again--I didn't realize just how much I'd missed them all :-). Some of my favorite memories of the team would be of all of us in that big blue Dodge caravan where sometimes I would think that instead of going to work, we were all heading out out town for a fun, week-long vacation in the mountains :-). It certainly did feel like a true road trip sometimes--there would be moments when we'd all be laughing, there would be moments when fuses were short :-).
  • I'd forgotten how fun it was to butt heads with Adam :-). When I was in Manila he and I would often discuss opposing points of views in terms of preferences. In Omaha it was about the new PT Cruiser--he really likes the way it looks, I'm not too fond of it. Even on the way to the airport we were trying to convince one of the other's point of view :-). Thinking about it more though, I think he and I enjoy the actual discussion more than who gets to "win :-)."

I'm HOME!

Current Mood:

Oh it feels so good to be home. I have to be honest, I did suffer a little separation anxiety leaving Omaha. I was telling Steve, "I don't understand it. I can't wait to come home, and yet I'm not too comfortable about leaving." We both agreed that since I'm a creature of habit, leaving something that I've been used to doing for 3 weeks would be cause for some anxiety.

I felt a little sad flying out of Omaha, a little lonely while in Chicago, but all throughout the last 30 minutes on the plane right before we landed in Memphis, my face was pressed against the window. I couldn't wait to come home. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet :-)?"

If I had a tail I'm sure it would have been wagging :-).

Buzzed

Current Mood:

Had dinner last night with Nina and Adam at Red Lobster. Two beers. After second beer mouth felt funny--tongue felt thick. Kinda pathetic, that happening after only two beers... had trouble following conversations. Thoughts also travel faster between mind and mouth...

Subway, eat fresh...

Current Mood:

Louis, Amber, Adam, Nina and I were supposed to have dinner last night after Louis' nap but it was getting late and we hadn't heard from him or Amber. So at 10 we decided to get our own dinner. Nina, Amber and I decided on Subway.

So Adam and I piled into the van and drove maybe about 8 miles to find a Subway. It was cold and wet and snowy and icy and we were glad when we finally got our sandwiches and started driving back to the hotel.

As we were pulling into the hotel parking lot, Adam mutters, "Oh no."

And I go, "What?"

"Look at that sign."

"What sign?"

"Just across the road. Under the Shell gas station sign."

I looked at the direction he was indicating (it was in the opposite direction where we had gone) and started to laugh.

There, in its big black and yellow letters... "Subway."

Widdle Bubu!

Current Mood:

I miss the doggies, one in particular. Her name is Bubu, and she's a Jack Russell terrier mix. She's the cuddliest little dog. When she's getting ready to sleep, she likes to be able to feel a person beside her before she's comfortable enough.

Steve and I tease her, but it's only cause we like her so much :-). She's a little on the heavy side for a dog her size, and when she sits down her hips are a little more pronounced than the rest of her. Steve says she looks like a Hershey's Kiss :-).

When she stands up, she's pretty much an oblong all the way around. That's why I call her "Pronto Pup." That's the Southern name for a corn dog :-). Steve and I joke that if she's going to be a superhero dog, that'll be her name: Pronto Pup :-). It'll be kind of like Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo--she'll be a sidekick.

{in a squeaky voice} "...And Pronto Pup!"

Returning the car

Current Mood:

Off to return the rental car today... will also be picking up part of the Vancouver team at the airport.

It was pretty neat driving that little Mazda 3. We had it for two weeks and we only used up 1 tank of gas. And the cost to fill it back up? 20 dollars. What a fuel saver :-).

Enterprise: To boldly go where no rental car has gone before

Current Mood:

On my birthday we were supposed to return our rental car but Amber and I decided to extend the rental until the 5th, when the Vancouver team arrives in Omaha.

So I call the Enterprise airport office and tell them if I could extend the use of the car (they said yes), and if I could pay the difference in cash at the nearest office instead of driving all the way to the airport (they also said yes). I told them the Grover office was nearest to me, and they said that was fine.

So I called the number for the Grover office to let them know that I was coming over to extend the use of the car.

Amber and I get there and while there WAS an Enterprise sign on the business premises (it was an auto shop), there was no one there FROM Enterprise. The receptionist said we would probably need to go to the office on 132nd Street, along B street.

So on we go... we were a little nervous about navigating through the city without previously looking it up, but we managed to find it (we were so proud of ourselves). We were on 132nd, and we turned into B street. YAY!

We parked and went up to the Enterprise door. "We're sorry we missed you. Please visit our office at 13nd and F Street."

Grrrrrrr.

So we drive to the third Enterprise office and someone was there, thank goodness :-). To make a long story short, we were able to extend the use of the rental car until Saturday, but boy did we have an adventure in trying to arrange it :-).

So sweet!

Current Mood:

Amber and I were in class when she had to step out for a second. A minute later, she and FD (one of our client contacts) walked in carrying a big birthday cake. I was stunned. Here I was, in a city that's not my own, in a training class that I'm not directly involved in, and the client brings in a birthday cake for me and the entire class sings happy birthday to me :-)! It was so nice of them :-).

I guess it's when you try to keep your birthday secret is when people make a bigger fuss over it :-).
