Evan Almighty

Current Mood:
CC is listening to: Serenata Notturna In D Major, K239: II. Menuetto E. Trio--English Chamber Orchestra (Mozart: Symphonies 25, 29, 38 & 401968)

I watched Evan Almighty yesterday, and I'm glad I did :-). I liked it :-). I guess this means I shouldn't trust Rotten Tomatoes as much and just go see movies that I think I'll like :-).

Lauren Graham's character as Evan's wife was reminiscent of her role as Gilmore Girls' Lorelai, and while that may not reflect much on her range, that was just fine by me--I was kind of hoping she'd play her role that way :-).

I learned a few lessons about life and faith in there too. Don't worry, it's not a preachy movie. But since the movie *is* about a biblical event, you've got to expect that when God shows up, he's going to have some wisdom to share :-). Besides, seeing Morgan Freeman do that funky 80's snaky dance move at the end of the movie was worth the price of admission :-).

Was there anything in there that I didn't like? Well, yeah--well, it's kind of a combo. It's about the animals. The flood wasn't really widespread enough to impact more exotic animals such as giraffes and lions, so there was really no reason for them to get in the ark. But if they didn't have giraffes and lions and rhinos and polar bears, then it wouldn't be much of an ark, would it :-)? Maybe if they said somewhere in the movie that there were a few zoos in the immediate area. That would kind of help explain it, I guess :-).

But I'd watch it again if Steve decides he wants to see it :-).
