Meez

Current Mood:
CC is listening to: The Girl from Ipanema--Stan Getz (The Essential Stan Getz: The Getz Songbook)

I took out my Yahoo avatar from my sidebar and put in a Meez avatar instead (credit goes to my cousin Liz for introducing me to it :-)). It looks so much cooler, plus it's animated :-).

New Featured Artwork

Current Mood:
CC is listening to: Within the Rose of Lavender--Jim Chappell (Laughter at Dawn)

I decided it was time to change my blog motif :-). Don't get me wrong, I like Don Li-Leger's work, but I decided it would be more interesting to start including different styles and different artists instead of the work of just one artist :-).

So I decided to narrow down the featured artwork by era, et voilĂ , my new blog motif :-). With Valentine's Day coming up, I figured a romantic picture of Romeo and Juliet this week would be fitting :-).

New Featured Artist

Current Mood:
CC is listening to: Cheek to Cheek--Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong (The Complete Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong)

I've featured all my personal favorites of Mucha's work, and I like the idea of displaying different artwork on my blog every week, so I thought I'd feature another artist this month: Don Di-Leger. I like his work; it's warm, oriental, and contemporary all at the same time :-).

Trying out Beta

Current Mood:

I switched from Blogger to Blogger beta today. There were some handy features that I wanted to use, but it turns out that I'm going to do some MAJOR script editing to incorporate the features with my blog.

Long story short, I want to keep the way my blog looks, I just want to add a couple of features from the Beta version:
  • a tree directory that lists all the headers of all your previous posts (instead of you having to hunt for entries yourself)
  • a labeling feature. You can tag your entries with keyword labels, making it easy for you to sort your entries according to topic later
However, Blogger Beta requires you change the look of your blog altogether.

Well I'll play with it a little while and we'll see how it goes :-).

Don't adjust your sets...

Current Mood:

Hmm, something's wrong with blogrolling. My blog list on the left menu is supposed to show stars only when the blog authors update their blogs. Right now there are stars after EVERY item on that list.

And it's not just on my blog either. I've visited other blogs that use blogrolling and the same thing is happening to them. Ah well, I'm sure they know about it by now and are fixing it :-).

Blog Quizzes

Current Mood:

I'm such a sucker for these online test things :-)...

Snickers

Nutty and gooey - you always satisfy.

You Are a Schoolgirl!

You're not quite as wild as a "kogyaru", but with your short plaid skirt and silly white socks, you're still a sexual fetish object.
You can usually be seen hanging out in the girly section of the video game places, collecting photobooth stickers of you and your friends. You may not be as innocent as you look. Did those vending machine panties once belong to you?

What I like about Blogrolling

Current Mood:

You know how when you visit people's blogs, there would often be a list of other people's blogs along the margin? And the only way for you to tell whether or not someone had updated his/her blog is to visit it and see if there's anything new.

The thing I like about blogrolling is that you can set it up to do this:

Notice the word "*fresh!*" after the BearAmerica blog and the Snapshots blog? That lets you know that the user just added a new entry :-). It's quite convenient :-).

There is one thing, though: the maximum time allotted for this setting is 48 hours. That means once 48 hours passes from the time someone had updated his/her blog, the *fresh* marking disappears.

It's still a useful tool, though :-).

Where's my blog list?

Current Mood:

Hmm, this is strange. The list of other people's blogs that's under my "Other Blogs"heading is gone. I used a service called blogrolling to maintain that list. I tried going to their website but it can't be found.

I wonder if there's just something wrong with the server or if they went out of business. I'll give it a couple of more days. If the website doesn't come back I'll have to re-create the blog list from scratch.

So THAT'S what Blogrolling does!

Current Mood:

I've been visiting other blogs and I often see a link to Blogrolling so I decided to check it out.

See those links to other blogs on my sidebar? I used to have to add those links one by one by myself. Every time I see a blog that I like, I go into the template and mess with the HTML code, tedious stuff like that.

Blogrolling made it a whole lot easier: you sign up for a free account, then you make a list of links (a "blogroll") that you'd like to display on your site. Then you make blogrolling generate the code for the list of links. You copy THAT into your blog and voila, your entire list is displayed on your website :-).

What's the advantage of blogrolling versus doing the codes yourself? Well for one thing, if you had a link to say, 50 sites, you won't have a LOOOONG html list code that you have to maintain manually. The other advantage is that blogrolling lets you know when a link has been updated, as early as 30 minutes ago. Now that's handy, especially for blogs :-).
