The Trip so Far
Current Mood: CC is listening to: more Japanese TV I was able to meet up with friends and family this weekend. I was able to see my grandmother, one of my uncles and his two little girls. I haven't seem them in YEARS. We had a nice lunch and walked around the mall a bit :-).
Then on Sunday I met up with Tatin, one of my co-workers when I was at Futurekids :-). We also had lunch and had a great time catching up.
The seminars are doing all right--after every run I think of things that would make it better next time and make changes accordingly.
I miss Steve and the doggies something awful. Don't get me wrong, it's great here. My company really went the extra mile to make sure I have a *very* comfortable stay. I'm extremely grateful :-).
I can certainly understand though how many overseas workers feel when they have to be far away from their family. It's the little things you miss: grocery shopping, spending a lazy weekend morning in bed--I even miss my chores. How sad is *that?* :-)
I'm able to find productive outlets for myself, which is good. The gym downstairs is awesome. And I play with the K9 dog at the lobby every chance I get. Her name is Jessica and her handler has been very kind about letting me play with her :-). I love how she responds to me, too. I go down on one knee and start scratching the back of her ear and she just loves it :-). She keeps tilting her head into my hand until she finally falls over on her side and sticks her feet up in the air :-). I'll take pictures today so you can see :-).
It's neat that I'm able to use Yahoo voice to call Steve. I *could* use the company-issued phone, but that's not really an efficient use of company resources. On the other hand, if I use Yahoo Voice, I pay $10 and I get 3 hours to call Steve on his cellphone. 3 hours! What a deal :-). The only thing is that I have to use my computer to call him--it's VOIP.
I'm watching Japanese TV right now. Do I understand Japanese? Heck, no :-). But one of the things that Steve and I would love to do one day is visit Japan. And I know it sounds really corny, but watching Japanese TV in a hotel room kind of makes me feel I'm one step closer to achieving that :-). Plus it's easier to write when my brain isn't trying to understand what I hear :-). If I was watching something in English, I'd end up getting distracted :-).
Let me show you a video of Katya that I've been watching every day. This is her playing with one of our hamsters. Don't worry, the hamster was absolutely safe--I think she actually mothers it :-).
