I'm HOME!

I'm HOME!

Isn't it funny how, on the last leg of your flight home, when the pilot says, "We are now beginning our final descent," it seems to last FOREVER?

You should've seen me getting out of the gate and making that trek to the public waiting area. I was powerwalking big time :-).

And there, waiting for me, was Steve. He had this huge smile.

It was like I had blinders. I didn't notice anything else. I powerwalked right to him, let go of my roller bag and we just hugged. And hugged. We didn't kiss like you see in the movies, because you're really not supposed to do that in public places anyway. Sure, there was that polite first peck on the lips, but mostly we just hugged.

It felt so GOOD. After a crazy busy business trip, life was normal again. Everything was okay. Heck, everything was great. I'm HOME.

Steve and I pulled away, and I was finally able to take a look around me. There was this Asian couple waiting for someone too, and the man was looking at us and he was smiling huge as well. I remember thinking that was kind of weird at first, because Asian people don't usually smile when they see an Asian-American couple--the stereotypes are just too prevalent. But then I guess he saw just how happy we were, and *that* made him smile.
